PASS THE MIC Leadership Programme Empowers Filipino Community Organisers in Finland

TURKU, Finland – On 12–13 December, BIBAK Suomi ry, the cultural association of Filipinos in Finland with roots in the Cordillera Administrative Region, will host PASS THE MIC, a leadership training programme designed to strengthen the next generation of Filipino community leaders across Finland.

The initiative is organised in collaboration with the Filipino Nurses Association in the Nordic Region (FiNAN) and the Finnish-Philippine Society. Through leadership training, mentoring, and community-driven projects, the programme aims to equip participants with practical skills needed to lead and support Filipino migrant communities.

PASS THE MIC, which stands for Promoting Active Support & Skills through Training for Migrant-Initiated Communities, focuses on developing culturally responsive leadership. Participants will learn how to organise meaningful community activities, connect migrants with appropriate services, and build stronger local support networks.

By investing in emerging community organisers, the programme seeks to create lasting local capacity while promoting inclusion, participation, and wellbeing among Filipino communities throughout Finland. The training also highlights the important role of migrant-led organisations in fostering social integration and strengthening connections between communities and public services.

As Filipino communities continue to grow across Finland, initiatives such as PASS THE MIC provide valuable opportunities for leadership development, collaboration, and community empowerment.
