The Finnish Filipino Nurses Association (FiNAN), in collaboration with its partners, is organizing a series of open discussions for Filipino nurses living and working in Finland. The meetings will take place in Helsinki (Southern Finland) on September 4, 2026, and Rovaniemi (Northern Finland) on November 7, 2026, both beginning at 16:00.

As the number of Filipino healthcare professionals relocating to Finland continues to grow, so too has the number of nurses seeking guidance and support regarding employment-related concerns. FiNAN has received an increasing number of requests for assistance involving workplace rights, employment contracts, wages, scheduling practices, and residency-related issues.

These meetings aim to provide Filipino nurses with a safe and welcoming forum to ask questions, share experiences, and gain reliable information about their rights and responsibilities while working in Finland.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

  • Human and labour rights of nurses in Finland
  • The 3–6 month rule and its implications for residence status and possible deportation
  • Fair work scheduling and shift allocation
  • Employment contracts and employer obligations
  • Salary and wage concerns
  • Other workplace issues affecting internationally recruited nurses

The organizers hope the discussions will encourage greater awareness of Finnish labour standards, empower nurses to recognize their rights, and strengthen cooperation within the Filipino nursing community.

The event is open to all Filipino nurses, whether newly arrived or long-time residents of Finland. Participants will also have the opportunity to raise questions and discuss challenges they have encountered in their workplaces.

By fostering dialogue, promoting awareness, and encouraging mutual support, the organizers aim to help build a stronger and more informed Filipino nursing community throughout Finland.
